BIH team is the winner of the Balkan Judo Championship
Samardžić and Miletić gold, 15 medals in total
Bosnia and Herzegovina's Judo team won the first place at the Balkan Championship that was held last week in Bulgaria. Our country's representatives achieved victory over other competing teams with the maximum result of 4:0, and they defeated teams from Turkey and Greece in the finals.
Our athletes won 15 medals in total - two gold medals, three silver medals and 10 bronze medals. Gold medalists were Aleksandra Samardžić (-70 kg) and Toni Miletić (90kg). Silver medalists were Anđela Samardžić (-57 kg), Božidar Vučurević (-81kg) and Sofija Pajić (-70 kg). Bronze medalists were Marko Rosuljaš (-60 kg), Milkica Đurić (-48 kg), Andrea Simović (+78 kg), Borjana Marjanac (+78 kg), Sandra Popović (-52 kg), Vuk Divljan (-73 kg), Džejla Kožljak (-63 kg), Ognjen Gazdić (-100 kg), Lana Lubura (-78 kg) i Patrik Savić (+100 kg).
Besides our judokas' great results at the aforementioned championship, it is also noteworthy that prof. dr. Branislav Crnogorac, member of the Executive Comittee of Olympic Comittee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, president of Judo Federation of BIH and National Team's head coach, was elected as the president of the Balkan Judo Association (BJA) at the Organisation's congress which wad held at the same time as the championship.
"I feel very honored for being elected next to a celebrated judo representative and former world champion, Dragomir Bećanović from Montenegro. The voting was held in secret in compliance with the democratic procedures and, afterwards, I was privileged to speak for BJA and open the competition as its new president", Crnogorac said.
Judo Federation of BIH continues with the great results and activities by preparing for the upcoming World Judo Cadets Championship which will be held in August in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
