Edin Numankadić, the keeper of the memories of WOG Sarajevo 1984

We can rightly and proudly say that he is the custodian of the memories of the Sarajevo Olympics in 1984. In addition to his life's vocation and commitment as a world-famous artist, Edin spent most of his working life as director of the XIV Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo.

After the end of the Games on February 19, 1984, the Museum of the XIV Winter Olympics was officially opened to inherit the memory of these magnificent Games, and our Edo was given the honor of running a beautiful house of sports and art.

He has remained faithful to the role of the custodian of the Museum of the XVI ZOI 84 in Sarajevo to this day, having gone through difficult periods. Watching the Museum burn in 1992, with a few collaborators in a very turbulent period, he managed to save a large number of exhibits and store them in a warehouse at OC Zetra.

As was his great wish, in addition to the opening of the temporary museum in 2004 in the premises of the Olympic Committee of BiH, Edin welcomed the renovation and opening of the Olympic Museum in the original building in Petrakija Street.

Our dear Edo has worked diligently for almost 4 decades to promote and preserve the most beautiful moments of our past, making sure that the memory of the Olympic heritage of BiH and the Olympic spirit continues to live in the hearts of all Bosnians and Herzegovinians. Edo is also the winner of the prestigious "Pierre de Coubertin" award of the International Olympic Committee at the suggestion of the BiH Olympic Committee in 2013.

The Olympic Committee of BiH thanks Edina for her work and commitment so far, and congratulates him on his well-deserved retirement, so that he can enjoy the fruits of his work and spend great time with his grandchildren.
