Lejla Tanović Njemčević won the World Marathon League in cycling
The best Bosnian cyclist Lejla Tanović Njemčević achieved career success after winning the World Marathon League.
The league is made up of seven World Cup races, and Lejla took first place with 1,200 points, i.e. 220 points more than second-placed German Stefanie Dohrn, while Janina Wust from Switzerland finished in third place with 660 points.
Lejla was the most consistent competitor during the season and finished on the podium at five of the seven World Cups.
"In this season, we set two big goals, winning the World Marathon League and first place on the UCI marathon ranking list. We are really happy that I won the league, it was extremely exhausting because you have to consistently achieve top results throughout the season that lasted from February to October," said Lejla Njemčević.
