President of the World Gymnastics Federation and IOC member Morinari Watanabe visited OC BiH
Today, the leaders of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the President of the World Gymnastics Federation and a member of the International Olympic Committee, Mr. Morinari Watanabe. In addition to the President of the OC BiH Marijan Kvesić and the Vice President Prof. Dr. Milanko Mučibabić and the Secretary-General of the OC BiH dr. sci Said Fazlagić, the Assistant Minister of Sports of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH Anđa Kalem Perić, the Minister of Sarajevo Canton Samir Avdić, the Ambassador of Japan in BiH Makoto Ito, as well as the President of the Gymnastics Association of BiH Adamir Raščić with his associates Prof. Dr. Mersad Suljević, Prof. Dr. Amir Muratović, and Saša Kovačević.
Attendees had the opportunity to get acquainted with the current state of gymnastics in Bosnia and Herzegovina through presentations by representatives of the Gymnastics Federation of BiH, with special emphasis on the (non) existing adequate infrastructure and facilities in which BH gymnasts train, which was the reason for this reception. . It is important to state that this sport is of great interest for young people and that a new complex with a gymnasium is being built in Banja Luka, which must be equipped with adequate gymnastic equipment, as well as renew existing equipment in other BH gymnastics clubs.
Representatives of cantonal and competent state ministries expressed their readiness to support gymnastics in BiH by providing space and funds for the adaptation of existing facilities, which would be intended exclusively for gymnastics.
Morinari Watanabe, whose second visit to Sarajevo, thanked all those present for the warm reception, noting that the World Gymnastics Federation in cooperation with the governing structures of Bosnia and Herzegovina will try to help procure adequate gymnastic equipment, as well as provide professional assistance, all in with the aim of developing gymnastic sports in this country. Also, Mr. Watanabe has expressed a strong desire to help BiH organize a major gymnastics competition in the near future.
President Marijan Kvesić expressed his great honor that the BiH Olympic Committee hosted a member of the International Olympic Committee and that he was pleased with Mr. Watanbe's affection to help gymnastics in BiH, which is another indicator that the BiH Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee have very good cooperation.
