Vice President Prof. Dr. Izet Radjo said that our athletes, in an environment where they work hard, have minimal support from the state, which they represent at the top level. OC BiH has created additional support for our Olympians with money from the budget that we earn through marketing and intellectual services. In that program of OC BiH, Larisa Cerić is the best placed athlete on ranking lists. In addition to Larisa, our Olympian Mesud Pezer is also in this program, and we are in the process of realizing the program for Amel Tuka as well.

On this occasion, the Vice President of the OC BIH, Marijan Kvesić, also addressed the present media, presenting the project "Continental Grant", through which the Olympic Committee of BiH provided additional funds for athletes.

This year's continental grant consists of 2 projects:

  • Way to Tokyo - Support to the best athletes from Bosnia and Herzegovina who are not beneficiaries of the regular scholarship for the Olympic Games "Tokyo 2020", and whose results showed a real opportunity to exercise the right to participate in the Olympic Games.
  • Final preparations for EYOF Baku - Support for final preparations for athletes who will perform at EYOF Baku.

Way to Tokyo - On the way to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics

Unfortunately, the number of Olympic scholarships is limited, so the BiH Olympic Committee, in agreement with IOC colleagues, redirected part of the Continental Grant to athletes who do not receive Olympic scholarships for the "Tokyo 2020 Olympics", but the results so far have shown that they have a chance to find at the biggest sports festival "Olympic Games".

A grant in the amount of approximately 38,000 BAM in order to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics in equal parts will be given to the following athletes:

  1. Abedin Mujezinović - athletics
  2. Dejan Mileusnić - athletics
  3. Ivan Klepić - karate
  4. Mirnesa Bektash - karate
  5. Nedžad Husić - taekwondo
  6. Dea Hergelas - tennis
  7. Nefisa Berberović - tennis

Therefore, it is a one-time financial support in the amount of 5,400 KM per person that can be used to participate in the European or World Championships, the relevant competition that belongs to the group of qualifying competitions for the Tokyo Olympics or other competition that is considered useful for training athletes.

EYOF Baku - Final preparations

Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented by 16 athletes and coaches at the EYOF in the Azerbaijani city of Baku. For these athletes, we have provided the amount of approximately 27,500 BAM in order to better prepare for participation in this competition. They come from the following sports: Athletics, Swimming, Tennis, Judo and Cycling.

On this occasion, and in accordance with the above-mentioned addresses of the Vice Presidents of OC BiH, Prof. Dr. Izet Radjo and Marijan Kvesić, authorized representatives of Professional Sports Federations were invited to officially sign contracts for their athletes, so that they could enjoy the funds provided by the Continental Grant.

Vice President Izet Radjo signed Agreements with representatives of the Athletics Federation of BiH, Karate Federation of BiH, Taekwondo Federation of BiH, Tennis Federation of BiH, Cycling Federation of BiH, Judo Federation of BiH and Swimming Federation of BiH.

Our Olympian and Tokyo 2020 Scholarship beneficiary Mesud Pezer, also addressed the media present on behalf of the Olympians who are working hard on their journey to Tokyo.

Pezer expressed deep gratitude to the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which with superhuman efforts help athletes to realize their dreams and record the best results at the largest sports event "Olympic Games".

At the end of the Press Conference, the Secretary General of OC BIH mr.sci. Said Fazlagić briefly presented the Project for the Renovation of the Olympic Museum in Petrakija Street, as well as the EU Projects on which the Olympic Committee of BiH has been working diligently since 2015 and implementing it very successfully.
