EU Project 'Olympic Kids': A Visit to the Paralympic Games

As part of the Erasmus+ project "Kids Running towards the Olympics – OlympicKids," co-financed by the European Commission, children from Turkey, Moldova, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, Greece, and Bosnia and Herzegovina had a unique opportunity to attend the opening of the Paralympic Games in Paris and visit a part of the Olympic venues from August 27 to 30.

The aim of this project is to promote social inclusion for at-risk children through sports, which is one of the priorities of the European Union.

The main idea of the project focuses on improving children's health through physical activity, as well as bringing them closer to Olympic ideals and values.

During their stay, the children had the opportunity to attend a swimming competition on August 29, where they witnessed outstanding performances by athletes with disabilities. These Games are known for their inspiring stories of courage and resilience, and the swimmers demonstrated incredible skills and strength, surpassing their own limits.

The Paralympic Games in Paris gather over 4,400 athletes from around the world, competing in 22 sports disciplines. These Games not only promote sporting excellence but also raise awareness of the importance of inclusion and equality in sports.
