Interview: Nenad Lalović

The President of the World Wrestling Federation and a member of the IOC Executive Committee, Nenad Lalović, discussed his visit with the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina and highlighted progress in unifying wrestling sports in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I can say that I am optimistic. I would like to thank the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina for this invitation and for gathering all those who have influence in this sport within the country. I believe the conversation was very constructive, and it must be understood that only unity can achieve results on the international stage.”

Lalović emphasized that unity must primarily be reflected in coordinated work among clubs that could form the Bosnian-Herzegovinian federation at the level expected by the World Wrestling Federation.

I would like to thank the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina for this invitation and for gathering all those who have influence in this sport within the country. I believe the conversation was very constructive, and it must be understood that only unity can achieve results on the international stage.”

He also spoke about preparations for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, noting that there are always certain problems before the Olympics.

“I can say that I am optimistic. I believe the conversation was very constructive, and it must be understood that only unity can achieve results on the international stage.”

He also highlighted the potential candidacy of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo for the Winter Youth Olympic Games.

“It’s very good news that Sarajevo and East Sarajevo are interested in hosting such a competition. The official call for organizers has not been announced yet. It is very important that the Olympic legacy, which has existed since 1984, is properly valorized. These are precisely the Winter Youth Olympic Games, and I think Sarajevo is a perfect candidate for that. I often tell members of the International Olympic Committee that if the Olympic idea lives in Sarajevo, you will see Olympic symbols in every café you enter, which is phenomenal for us IOC members to witness.”
