Support from the NOC BIH to the visionary ideas of the Rugby NF
After the visit and the working meeting held in Sarajevo on 23.09., when representatives of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted representatives of the Rugby Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first activities agreed in principle at the aforementioned meeting have arrived. We would like to remind you that during the visit to the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the representatives of the Federation were presented with equipment for the rugby team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Yesterday, during a return visit, the President of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, academician Prof. Dr. Izet Rađa, was hosted by representatives of the Rugby Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the Chairman of the Management Board Edis Šačirović, Doc. Dr. Mirza Oruč, and Mr. Almedin Buljubašić. At the meeting held in the premises of the Rugby Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a wide range of interesting topics for the improvement of rugby in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed, as well as the visionary ideas of the new leadership of the Federation.
A Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Rugby Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which puts mutual capacities at the disposal of both parties for the further improvement and promotion of this sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Discussions also covered projects that are to be realized by the Rugby Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the near future, where the President of the OK BiH emphasized full commitment to supporting the Federation, as well as the rugby sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The topic of forming a women's national team was also discussed, with information presented by Mr. Šačirović that the World Rugby Association has approved the activities for forming a women's rugby team for Bosnia and Herzegovina as one of eight new national teams, and that they will have strong support from the umbrella body of rugby in this project.
This team, the leadership of the Rugby Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina conveyed visionarily, could be the first team representing our country at the Olympic Games to be held in Australia in 2032.
A series of innovations and visionary ideas includes the introduction of snow rugby as a competitive discipline at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), which is certainly a significant venture, but with new energy in the structures, it appears to be an achievable goal and dream.
Following the match between the cadet teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, a match between the A teams was also held. The game started with a minute of silence for the recently deceased Albin Kapić and all the victims of the severe weather that affected parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Rugby fans at Kamberovića Polje witnessed an interesting match in the conference group of the European Championship. The home team celebrated victory in the dynamic encounter, with a final score of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 30:20.
