Vaccination of the BIH Olympic Team for the Tokyo 2020 has begun

After several months of efforts, the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina together with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina provided vaccinations to athletes and members of the delegation - potential and confirmed participants of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. On that occasion, today the athletes, coaches and members of the delegation, who responded to the invitation, were vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 at the University Clinical Hospital in Mostar. Athletes who are currently competing will be provided with a second vaccination date in accordance with their training and competition schedules, and hopefully as early as next week.

President of NOC BiH, Mr. Marijan Kvesić thanked the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the University Clinical Hospital in Mostar, which provided the immunization of the BiH team. "This will certainly contribute to the safer participation of athletes, coaches and members of the delegation at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics," said President Kvesić.

Among the first athletes to be vaccinated were Larisa Cerić (judo), Nedžad Husić (taekwondo) and Adem Fetahović (boxing), who pointed out that vaccinating athletes, especially in contact sports, represents a psychological relief before decisive competitions and preparations for going to the Games.

Vaccination is voluntary and is not a condition for participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but in this way the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina wants to enable the BiH team to safely travel and stay at the Games, which is part of the preparatory activities of NOC BiH to participate in the largest multisport international competition.
