15th summer edition of European Youth Olympic Festival Banska Bistrica (Slovakia) will be held from 24 to 30 July 2022. Best young athletes from 48 Europian countries will represent their countries in the following 10 disciplines: gymnastics, athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, judo, road cycling, swimming, tennis and volleyball.

Bosnia and Herzegovina will be represented by seven athletes accompanied by three coaches from athletics, judo and swimming:

Regarding this event, some of our athletes and a coach spoke of their expectations from this competition:

"It is my pleasure to represent the colors of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Banska Bistrica in judo. It is a great experience for all young athletes and I can freely say that it is one of the goals that I myself wanted to fulfill in my career. This year was quite successful for me, in addition to European medals, many performances and difficult preparations, the summer EYOF represents the crown of all those successes. I will do my best to achieve the best result possible at this competition. It is a great pleasure to represent both Bosnia and Herzegovina and my city Banja Luka and Judo club "Zvijezda" from Banja Luka. Of course, I would like to thank the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina for showing us trust and giving us the opportunity to represent ourselves and our sports in the best light," said Sofija Pajić, judoka.

„At the summer EYOF in Banska Bistrica, I will represent my homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the athletics' discipline- the long jump. It is a great success for myself and for all of the other competing athletes, and I can say that it was one of my goals this year. I had many good jumps, results and many state records with my club AK Sarajevo. At this big competition, I expect a good result and an entry to the finals. I would like to thank the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina for giving me the opportunity to perform and represent our country at this great competition," said Emina Omanović, athlete.

„It is an honor to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the EYOF in the swimming disciplines of 200m and 400m freestyle and 200m and 400m medley. My club colleague Lamija Čaušević will perform with me at the Games. As members of the "Sport Time" swimming club, we have been preparing hard and are very excited about the upcoming performance at the summer EYOF. I hope to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in the best light. I am grateful to Olympic Comittee of BIH for choosing me to represent our country and I hope that I will make my country proud," said Iman Avdić, swimmer.

„EYOF is another step in the development of a young athlete, which in my opinion is one of the most important steps, because it takes place at an age when athletes in BIH decide whether they will continue to build their sports career or turn to some other developing interests exactly during this period. I hope that we have prepared well and adequately, followed the plan and program of preparations, and that we will present the Olympic Committee of BiH and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina with dignity at this competition," said Evelin Avdić, swimming coach .

The official opening ceremony will be held on July 24, starting at 8:30 p.m. in the park dedicated to the Slovak National Uprising. Swimmer Iman Avdić and judoka Vidak Maljević will have the honor of carrying the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the opening ceremony of the XVI Summer EYOF Banska Bistrica
