Anur Mehić, two-time winner of junior slalom races

Last week, the first NJR slalom races of the 2025/26 season for junior athletes under 21 were held in St. Moritz, Switzerland (Diavolezza). Right at the start of the season, sixteen-year-old Anur Mehić achieved a double victory in a field of 90 competitors, confirming his outstanding form.

Following yesterday's triumph in the first NJR slalom race, today's victory was another affirmation of the quality and consistency of the young BiH representative.

Although junior races rarely attract significant public attention, Anur's success raised the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Switzerland and Italy, two of the strongest skiing nations in the world. It is worth noting that Anur won over ten gold medals in the previous season at the most significant global competitions in the cadet category (U16), signaling a successful transition to the junior level.

From the coaching team, they emphasize:

'Anur is a young competitor who has just entered the junior category, and with these victories, he has demonstrated that he can compete with the strongest world competitors in the junior category. Although he already has the option to compete in the senior category, the team's decision is that for the next two years he will primarily compete in the junior category, in order to continue developing his technique, physical preparation, and experience. It is important that we do not skip steps – the goal is to develop a stable and complete competitor who will be ready for the highest achievements in the senior category in the coming years.'

In addition to the junior races, senior races were also held in Diavolezza, where the victory went to Simon Maurberger from Italy, who competes in World Cup races.
