BIH Team „European Games Krakow Malopolska 2023“
On the premises of the BIH Olympic Committee, a press conference was held on the occasion of the presentation of the BIH Team that will perform at the III European Games Krakow Malopolska 2023 in Poland from June 21 to July 2 this year.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina team will be represented by athletes from a total of 8 sports:
- Athletics (36 athletes, 12 officials) – European Team Championship
- Taekwondo (3 athletes, 3 coaches)
- Boxing (10 athletes, 3 coaches)
- Karate (1 athlete, 1 coach)
- Canoe sprint (1 athlete) - European Championship
- Canoe slalom (1 athlete, 1 coach) - European Championship
- Shooting (2 athletes, 1 coach)
- Mountainbike (1 athlete, 1 coach) - European Championship
President of the BIH Olympic Committee Prof. Dr. Milanko Mučibabić said: "You are our stars, from whom we expect you to surpass yourselves and achieve top results." The BiH Olympic Committee made every effort to finalize the logistical preparations in order to successfully take this numerous delegation to Poland. On the other hand, the competent institutions responsible for sports did not make an effort to support either the BiH Olympic Committee or the athletes. We sincerely hope that state institutions will react as soon as possible and help our top athletes in their efforts to meet the standards for the Paris 2024 Olympics in this pre-Olympic year."
During the press conference, the athletes and coaches addressed themselves and were unanimous in their messages that the support of the state is absolutely necessary in order to continue practicing elite sports and represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the biggest world sports shows in the world. In their address, the athletes emphasized that participation in international multi-sport events is a special motivation. They also promised that this time they would do their best.
The third consecutive European Games Krakow Malopolska will be held from June 21 to July 2, 2023. Previous editions: II European Games Minsk 2019, I European Games Baku 2015. Over 7,000 athletes from 48 European countries will participate in the Games, and will compete during 12 competition days in 26 sports/29 disciplines, of which 18 are Olympic sports that are part of the qualifications for the Paris 2024 Olympics). As part of the Games, 12 sports are also European championships.
