At European Judo Championship for veterans taking place at the Hills Hotel Arena in Sarajevo, organized technically by the Judo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Vice-President of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prof. Dr. Milanko Mučibabić, won yet another gold medal for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The first-place win confirms the continuity of the top results achieved by the Vice-President of OK BiH in this category, as he holds 10 championship medals in the veterans’ selection – 5 world gold medals and 5 European gold medals.
Veterans from 36 countries across Europe are participating in the European Championship, with over 800 competitors arriving at the Hills Hotel Arena, 31 of whom represent Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Prof. Dr. Mučibabić holds the master title of 9th DAN in judo, which is the highest rank in this Olympic sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and even beyond. He has been actively involved in judo for a full 60 years as an athlete and sports worker. On his journey to achieving the 9th DAN master title, he has accomplished remarkable successes as a competitor, coach, and sports worker.
During the golden era of sports in former Yugoslavia, he won European and world medals as both a competitor and a coach of the national team (in 1981, 1982, and 1986), and he is the most decorated veteran of judo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, being a multiple European and world veteran champion (2010, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024).
Vice-President Prof. Dr. Mučibabić, as a long-time prominent athlete and sports worker, serves as an example for young people that sports have no boundaries.
