Equestrian Club "Hidalgo" marked the European Week of Sports

At the 'Hidalgo' equestrian club in Sarajevo, organized by the Federation of Equestrian Organizations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with the support of the Olympic Committee of BiH, a horse agility competition was held today as part of the European Week of Sport. Among the numerous horse sport enthusiasts were members and competitors from the equestrian clubs Bosna, Visoko, Vilenjak, Feniks, Basquil, and Pegasos. In a friendly and competitive atmosphere, the riders demonstrated a high level of agility and control, fair play, and the importance of embracing the messages of the #BeActive campaign and incorporating healthy habits into everyday life.

The European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign were launched by the European Commission in 2015, taking place within the project 'EU4Youth – European Week of Sport Beyond Borders in the Western Balkans,' funded by the European Commission through the IPA program, implemented by the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of the Republic of Srpska, with the coordination of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH.

Today's gathering showcased the beauty and elegance of equestrian sports, and speakers Armina Purić, Secretary General of the Federation of Equestrian Sports of BiH, and Jasmin Kazazović, President of the Assembly of the Federation, emphasized that equestrian sport is unique as it does not recognize gender categories and is suitable for all ages—from children to older riding enthusiasts.

'We hope that this event will inspire many young people to come, try, and learn to ride, as well as to venture into riding disciplines. Equestrian sports develop patience, trust, and connection, values that are the foundation of any healthy society,' Purić stated.

Today's gathering, along with previous sports events in Cazin, Pale, East Sarajevo, Neum, Široki Brijeg, Zenica, Visoko, and Tuzla, organized with the support of the Olympic Committee of BiH as part of the celebration of the European Week of Sport in BiH, once again demonstrated that the #BeActive campaign is an opportunity for meetings, learning, and creating new energy through movement.
