Olympic Day 2026. Sarajevo

The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Sports Games for Youth, organized the “Olympic Day 2026” event to promote Olympic values, a healthy lifestyle and the importance of sport among children and youth.

The event this year involved 200 primary school pupils from across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The partnership with the Sports Games for Youth, the largest regional amateur sports event that continuously promotes friendship, inclusion, fair play and a healthy lifestyle, made a special contribution.

The program began with a symbolic warm‑up, after which the children, under the supervision of coaches and sports federations, rotated through eight sports stations: table tennis, badminton, basketball, four‑square, frisbee, athletics, curling and rugby. Each station hosted 15–20 children taking part in interactive activities and practical demonstrations.

President of the Olympic Committee of BiH Davor Komšić told the young participants he believes in their success.

“I am 100 percent sure that all of you here will reach top results and the Olympic Games.”

Komšić emphasized that participants in this Olympic Day and the Sports Games for Youth will take away “the most beautiful memories of their lives” and urged them to listen to their parents, coaches, teachers and professors.

“Most importantly — listen to your parents, coaches, teachers and professors and the goals and results will follow.”

The youngsters also met Bosnian and Herzegovinian Olympians, including top athlete Amel Tuka, judoka Larisa Čerić, skier Elvedina Muzaferija and biathlete Sanja Kusmuk, whose presence further motivated the participants.

This year’s edition carried the International Olympic Committee’s global message “You Can Do This. Let’s Move.,” encouraging children and youth to believe in their abilities and to build confidence, resilience and a sense of togetherness through movement.

At the end of the program all participants posed for a group photo symbolizing core Olympic values—friendship, respect, excellence and unity—and the importance of an active and healthy life.

The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to spreading the Olympic spirit across the country through activities that connect sport, education and social responsibility. Olympic Day, observed since 1948 in more than 200 countries and territories, once again confirmed its role as the largest global initiative promoting universal Olympic values.

Olympic Day is held in 206 countries worldwide under the jurisdiction of the International Olympic Committee with support from Olympic Solidarity.
