The second edition of the recreational street race “Atletist 5K,” organized by the Citizens' Association “Atletist” from East Sarajevo, was this time part of the European Week of Sport.

Over 100 participants from elementary schools, grades I to IX, showcased the importance of sport for health and community, alongside more than 200 adults.

The European Week of Sport and “Atletist 5K,” besides the sports aspect, also promote an active lifestyle and community, and have an educational-promotional character through promotional stations in educational schools.

“EU4Youth – European Week of Sport Beyond Borders in the Western Balkans” is funded by the European Commission, coordinated by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Family, Youth, and Sports of Republika Srpska.

The European Week of Sport was launched in 2015 as an initiative by the European Commission to combat physical inactivity, with the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina actively participating in the project through a series of activities and events aimed at motivating and raising awareness among citizens about the importance of physical activities for all generations.
