IN MEMORIAM | MIRZA DELIBAŠIĆ "KINĐE"
On this day, 22 years ago, Mirza Delibašić, the best sportsman of BiH of all time, died.
He played almost 700 games for "Students" and scored approximately 14,000 points.
He was the champion of Yugoslavia (1978 and 1980), the club champion of Europe in 1979, and won all possible trophies with the national team of the former country. He was the champion of the Old Continent twice (1977 and 1979), World champion in 1978 and Olympic winner in 1980. He was declared the best basketball player of SFRY in 1980.
He was voted the best sportsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina four times, and in 2000 he was declared the best sportsman of all time in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He was the selector of the BiH basketball team, which won eighth place at the European Championship in 1993. This is still the best ranking of the BiH national team in European competitions.
Mirza Delibašić left us on this day in 2001 in Sarajevo, but his works remain permanently woven into the sports heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
