Kirsty Coventry officially takes over as IOC President
Kirsty Coventry has officially taken over as president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), following years of leadership by Thomas Bach, who has been at the helm of the IOC since 2013. Coventry, a former top swimmer with numerous Olympic medals, took over the position with the intention of bringing fresh energy and ideas to the governance of sports on a global level.
