Lejla Njemčević 1st on the world UCI marathon ranking list

The best Bosnian-Herzegovinian cyclist and European vice-champion, Lejla Njemčević, has once again claimed the top spot on the UCI World Marathon Rankings following her latest accumulation of points.

Lejla won the silver medal at the European Championship in the marathon discipline held in Viborg, Denmark, on August 18, 2024, marking the first medal for Bosnian cycling.

Before the European Championship in Denmark, our competitor held the second position on the World Ranking list, but after earning points from the European Championship, she regained the first place with 1,340 UCI points.

Njemčević's next competition is the World Snowshoe Championship in the USA, taking place on September 22 on a 104-kilometer course with an elevation gain of 2,200 meters. The championship course is already familiar to our competitor, as she lifted the trophy for the overall winner of the World Series on the same course last season.
