Ministry of Security deepen sports cooperation with NOC

Today at the premises of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, OK BiH President Davor Komšić met with Acting Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ivica Bošnjak to discuss matters of key importance for the development of sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting was organized to improve cooperation between the Olympic Committee of BiH and state institutions, and to present the activities and challenges faced by the country’s leading sports organization.

OK BiH President Davor Komšić thanked Minister Bošnjak for his visit and willingness to listen to the needs of the sports sector, emphasizing the importance of stronger institutional support for sport and athletes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the talks, particular emphasis was placed on improving the legal framework governing sport and finding a sustainable financing model for elite sport and the Olympic Committee of BiH.

On that occasion, President Komšić presented Minister Bošnjak with an initiative that includes support for drafting new and improving existing state-level legislation, intensifying cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s institutions, and resolving the issue of regular co-financing of the Olympic Committee of BiH from state institution budgets.

One important topic discussed was the security of sporting events and international sports cooperation. They spoke about entry and stay procedures for foreign athletes in Bosnia and Herzegovina during international competitions, cooperation in the process of granting citizenship to athletes, and response mechanisms in case of potential security threats to sporting events and the sports system as a whole.

Minister Bošnjak expressed his satisfaction with the visit to the Olympic Committee of BiH and stressed that he recognizes the importance of sport for promoting Bosnia and Herzegovina and social development. He noted his awareness of the challenges facing the sports sector and said that, within his remit, he will support initiatives that contribute to creating better conditions for the work of sports organizations and elite athletes.

He also confirmed that the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina will remain a reliable partner of the Olympic Committee of BiH on all matters related to the security of sporting events and international sports activities.

The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere, with a shared commitment to continue cooperation and find concrete solutions that will contribute to strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sports system and creating better conditions for sport development at all levels.
