New record for Arian Milicija

Bosnian-Herzegovinian pole vaulter Arian Milicija from Sarajevo cleared an incredible 5.25 meters at the Sun City Classic Meet at the University of Texas El Paso, setting a new personal and national record, surpassing his previous result by 9 centimeters!

Earlier this month, Milicija jumped 5.16 meters at a competition at his university, the University of New Mexico, improving his personal and national record and confirming the qualifying standard for the World University Games in Bochum, Germany, which will be held from July 21 to 27 this year.

However, with his new record, achieved on his third attempt—after clearing 5.06 meters on his second try and missing the jump at 5.16 meters—Milicija also met the qualification standard for the European U23 Championships, scheduled to take place from July 17 to 20 in Bergen, Norway. The qualification standard for Bergen is exactly 5.25 meters.

At the El Paso meet, Milicija also attempted to clear 5.35 meters but was unsuccessful in all three attempts.

He turned 20 in March, and this is his first year studying at that American university.
