Olympic Day 2026. Sarajevo- You Can Do This. Let’s Move.
The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Sports Games for Youth, is organizing the “Olympic Day 2026” event, which will be held on June 21, 2026 in Sarajevo, with the aim of promoting Olympic values, a healthy lifestyle and the importance of sport among children and youth.
This year’s event is given special significance by the partnership with the Sports Games for Youth, the largest regional amateur sports event that for many years has organized competitions for primary and secondary school children, promoting friendship, inclusion, fair play and a healthy lifestyle.
This year’s Olympic Day will bring together a large number of participants who, through socializing, play and sports activities, will have the chance to try various Olympic and non‑Olympic sports and experience the true spirit of Olympism. As every year, young people will also have the opportunity to meet Bosnian and Herzegovinian Olympians.
The program will begin with a symbolic “Olympic Day Run,” a joint lap of all participants, sending a strong message of unity, friendship and the importance of daily physical activity.
After a joint warm‑up, participants will be assigned to eight sports stations where, under the professional supervision of coaches and sports federations, they will have the opportunity to try the following sports:
- table tennis
- badminton
- basketball
- volleyball
- frisbee
- athletics
- curling
- rugby
Each sports station will host between 15 and 20 children, who will learn basic sports skills through interactive activities and practical demonstrations, develop team spirit, and become familiar with the values sport promotes.
This edition of Olympic Day carries the strong global message “You Can Do This. Let’s Move.,” through which the International Olympic Committee seeks to encourage children and youth to believe in their abilities and discover the confidence that sport and movement can build.
Every year Olympic Day offers a chance to celebrate something much greater than sport itself—the power of movement to build confidence, connection and well‑being for individuals and communities.
Young people around the world are moving less, and one of the biggest barriers to an active lifestyle is lack of confidence. Often they feel they are not ready, not confident enough, or not capable of taking the first step.
Therefore, this year’s goal is to help young people recognize their potential and build self‑belief through movement. Movement not only strengthens the body—it develops confidence, resilience, a sense of belonging and connection to others.
The message “You Can Do This. Let’s Move.” invites young people to trust themselves, to take the first step without fear of imperfection, and to discover through sport how far they can go once they start moving.
At the end of the program all participants will take a group photo symbolizing core Olympic values—friendship, respect, excellence and unity—and sending a message about the importance of an active and healthy life.
The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s singular objective is to spread the Olympic spirit across the country through activities that connect sport, education and social responsibility.
Olympic Day was established in 1948 to commemorate the founding of the modern Olympic Games in Paris. Besides celebrating the Olympic movement, the event aims to encourage people of all ages to engage in sport, regardless of gender, age or physical ability.
Today Olympic Day is observed in 206 countries and territories under the International Olympic Committee’s jurisdiction, with support from Olympic Solidarity, making it one of the largest global sports events dedicated to promoting universal Olympic values.
