Olympic Scholarships „Los Angeles 2028”
Thirteen top athletes, potential candidates for participation in the Olympic Games 'Los Angeles 2028', have signed contracts with the Olympic Committee of BiH, securing scholarships to qualify and prepare as best as possible for the Olympic Games scheduled to take place in Los Angeles in 2028.
Through this project, the Olympic Committee of BiH has provided financial support amounting to 1,160 BAM per month for three years, representing a total support of approximately 542,000 BAM for the thirteen athletes. This assistance is specifically aimed at them—athletes competing in various sports and disciplines, including athletics, taekwondo, swimming, judo, weightlifting, tennis, and shooting.
The scholarship holders who will benefit from this support are: Mesud Pezer (athletics), Nedžad Husić (taekwondo), Jovan Lekić (swimming), Amel Tuka (athletics), Toni Miletić (judo), Andranik Karapetyan (weightlifting), Lana Pudar (swimming), Larisa Cerić (judo), Aleksandra Samardžić (judo), Džejla Makaš (taekwondo), Ada Avdagić (taekwondo), Tea Kovačević (tennis), and Zakira Pušina (shooting).
The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina (OK BiH) is a non-budget user that solely project-based and financially supports the best athletes and young talents. In addition to this financial support project, OK BiH will also implement the Program+ project, aimed at the best of the aforementioned athletes, who will earn their eligibility through outstanding results and medals won at world and European competitions on the path to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
We hope that organizational units and relevant ministries—from local levels (cities, municipalities, cantons), especially at the entity and state levels—will urgently create similar support programs for potential Olympians and elite athletes. This way, we will prevent situations where top results and medals are expected without adequate investment and support for elite athletes from the authorities responsible for sports funding, ensuring that athletes receive the necessary support to achieve their sporting and national goals in a timely manner.
