Today, the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Dr. Denis Bećirović, received the leaders of the BiH Olympic Committee and the BiH team for the Paris 2024 Olympics at the premises of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Chairman Dr. Bećirović congratulated the present Olympians on their achievements and Olympic standards, as well as for representing and promoting Bosnia and Herzegovina at the world’s largest sports event.

In discussions with the leaders of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Olympians, and coaches, Dr. Bećirović reached a consensus that it is necessary to strengthen and integrate the sports system in Bosnia and Herzegovina at all levels to have significantly more Olympians competing for the highest Olympic medals at the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in LA 2028.

It was also agreed that the status of the sports system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and support for the best athletes and sports federations, as well as the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the umbrella sports organization in the country, should be evaluated at least once a year, in accordance with the conclusions of the "Round Table of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina," which identifies the pressing issues in elite sports in Bosnia and Herzegovina and ways to overcome them.

Our best athletes—Olympians—expressed their gratitude to Dr. Bećirović for his support in Paris, where he visited them, as well as for the reception at the Presidency building of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which certainly boosts the optimism and morale of athletes and the Olympic family in their hopes of achieving new top sports results.

At the initiative of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chairman Dr. Bećirović accepted that the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be a permanent patron of the Athlete of the Year Awards organized by the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future.

Dr. Bećirović is the first Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina to visit Olympians at the Olympic Games and to hold a reception for the Olympians after the Games, for which the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina expresses gratitude, and we look forward to continuing our future successful cooperation with the institution of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
