Tea Kovačević wins the U-14 European Championship

Super-talented Bosnian tennis player Tea Kovačević (14) from Bosanska Gradiška achieved the greatest success of her career so far, winning the title at the European U-14 Championship, held in the Czech city of Most. In the final, Tea defeated the home representative Jana Kovačkova with a score of 2:1, after uncertain sets 6:7, 6:4 and 6:4. This victory, in which she managed to make a turnaround after losing the first set, confirms her status as one of the most promising young tennis players on the European scene.

Tea reached the final without losing a set and showed incredible strength and concentration in the decisive match, defeating the tournament's top seed on home ground. The European Championship, organized by Tennis Europe under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), is the most prestigious junior competition, with numerous stars of world tennis, including Novak Djokovic, Iga Świątek, and Carlos Alcaraz, having participated. By winning this trophy, Tea has joined the list of champions who have dominated the European junior scene.

With this success, Tea Kovačević has become the first Bosnian-Herzegovinian tennis player to win the European Championship in this category, replicating the success of Damir Džumhur, who was the best in the men's U-18 competition in 2010. During this season, Tea has already won four U14 titles and five titles in the U16 category, and she has now qualified for the Final Masters in Monte Carlo, where she will compete against the best young female tennis players in Europe.

The Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina extends its sincere congratulations to Tea Kovačević on winning the title at the U14 European Championship.
