Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina supported by the FBIH Government

The delegation and organizing committee of the international road race ‘Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina’, consisting of Dr. Said Fazlagić, Secretary of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, President of the Cycling Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Amar Njemčević, and Race Project Manager Branislav Stojkić, visited the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they were greeted by a high-level delegation led by Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Finance Toni Kraljević, and Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts Vojin Mijatović.

The meeting focused on the institutional support of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the ‘Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina’ race project, which has recently been officially included in the calendar of the International Cycling Union (UCI) for 2026 and for which the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a special partner. Through this project organization, Bosnia and Herzegovina will receive its own Tour for the first time, an international stage road race that will bring together professional teams from around the world and present our country on the global sports stage while promoting Olympic values.

Prime Minister Nikšić emphasized the importance of the project for the promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the development of sports, stating:

'The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to supporting the development of sports, strengthening sports institutions, and creating better conditions for our athletes. Regarding the ‘Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina’ race, the Government will allocate funds in the budget for 2026 and provide full support for this project. I particularly emphasize that the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the special partner of the race, which further confirms its significance. We are pleased that the race has been included in the official calendar of the International Cycling Union, granting Bosnia and Herzegovina yet another international recognition and an opportunity for promotion on the world stage.'

The Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of BiH, Dr. Said Fazlagić, highlighted that the Executive Committee of the Olympic Committee of BiH gladly accepted the special partnership of such an important project for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the sports system of our country.

'In addition to this project, we informed the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federation, and the Minister of Finance about the progress in creating conditions for the candidacy of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), thereby making Bosnia and Herzegovina an Olympic country for the third time and strengthening winter Olympic infrastructure at the venues, as well as creating better conditions for top sporting achievements and promoting Olympic values in the tourism segment.

Mr. Fazlagić expressed gratitude for the multi-million investment by the Government of the Federation of BiH from the profits of BH Telecom and proposed joint cooperation on such and similar projects to support elite athletes and sports associations, ensuring that the allocation of funds serves its purpose and encompasses both summer and winter sports, potential and recognized Olympians, national teams, and young Olympic hopes.

Finally, he informed those present that the Olympic Committee of BiH is currently implementing 22 projects of Olympic solidarity from the International Olympic Committee and four EU projects that are directly aimed at supporting elite athletes, sports associations, and the sports system of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole.

The organizers emphasize that the race will be organized in accordance with the highest standards of the UCI, with the participation of international Pro-Continental and Continental teams, as well as national teams and local teams, creating a strong combination of sports, tourism, and the promotion of the country.

"By including the race in the UCI calendar, Bosnia and Herzegovina has made a significant step in the development of cycling and the organization of this event, as the Tour is now backed by the international institution UCI. We are proud that all key institutions—from the Olympic Committee to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina—have recognized the significance of the project and provided their support, with the Cycling Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina also backing the project. This is proof that through teamwork we can create an event that will present our country to the world in the best light," commented Amar Njemčević, President of the Cycling Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 'Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina' represents one of the largest sports and promotional projects in the recent history of domestic cycling. Its aim is to connect all regions of the country through sport, promote the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and tourism potential of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and encourage the development of cyclists and cycling at all levels.

Project Manager Branislav Stojkić emphasized that the project has strong support from the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is the special partner of the race, and now also receives support from the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as various tourism boards, local communities, cities, and municipalities through which the race will pass. This collaboration is also the goal of the project—to connect all relevant stakeholders through cooperation on a national-level project.
